Every Large Corporation Once Started Out As A Small Business

November 26 2014, 0 Comments

Matt and I began our crazy little dream of launching a Kickstarter campaign and building a business around SideCar almost two years ago. We thought we were prepared for the struggles that would lie ahead. We were not. We had problems with manufacturers and suppliers left and right setting us way behind schedule to fulfill our Kickstarter batch as well as our first pre-orders through our store. We began receiving some pretty hateful emails from disgruntled backers and customers that labeled us scam artists, and that's not even the worst of it. We had depleted our Kickstarter funding and then had to pile on tens of thousands of dollars in debt to even be able to begin production. But what kept us going and pushing through was our passion to build something from scratch, on a tiny shoe-string budget, and turn it into something big. Something that people would love and use and talk about.

Though we are far from becoming a large corporation, we rather enjoy our status as a small business. There is a lot more connection with the community and our customers, but that doesn't mean we don't want to grow. It's been less than a year since we launched our store and every day we are slowly growing a little bit more thanks to everyone that loves our products and spreads the word. We don't have multi-million dollar marketing budgets or a dedicated sales-force team that is out there shoving our products down people's throats. Instead we have chosen to rely on word-of-mouth and some truly amazing bloggers to get SideCar out there.

As a result we now have a market presence in Japan, the United Kingdom and Germany with access to the rest of Europe, but that would have never been possible without the help and support of our loyal U.S. customers.

Yes, you can now easily purchase SideCar with one click from amazon, but this Small Business Saturday, after the chaos of Black Friday has dissipated, we invite you to shop small, but it doesn't have to be with us necessarily. After all there are 28 million small businesses in this country to chose from to offer your support for all the hard work and sacrifices they endure year-round. You will also be helping your community because as small businesses grow, they hire more employees, which leads to more revenue, leading to more taxes paid for improvements in your community.

So enjoy all the deals this Black Friday, but help small businesses and your community grow by shopping small this Small Business Saturday. We'll be here at and we'll be offering free shipping to U.S. orders for one day only.

We are releasing this special SideCar with a limited production run to celebrate a special occasion: SideCar's first anniversary. Order now so you don't miss out!

How Does SideCar Work? May 02 2014, 0 Comments

Only two weeks left until SideCar starts bringing laptops and tablets together to create an awesome mobile computing environment. We've been getting many questions regarding how the new mechanism works, so we created this short video to give you an idea of what SideCar can do for you and your devices.

New Website & Pre-Sales Launch March 27 2014, 0 Comments

We're excited to finally launch online pre-sales of SideCar as it makes its debut at the Avatron/Air Display stand of MacWord Expo 2014 in San Francisco. We've come a long way since September when SideCar was barely at its birth-stage as a Kickstarter project. October came and SideCar passed its funding goal. Then came the hard part: mass-producing a simple concept yet a monstrous and technical engineering challenge unlike anything we had ever encountered.

After vigorous weeks of testing and customer feedback, we decided to completely redesign SideCar in order to make it compatible with virtually any modern laptop, tablet and smartphone. Quality and satisfaction matter to us above everything else so manufacturing this neat gadget in the U.S. was a must for us. After numerous conversations and negotiations with local manufacturers and suppliers, we finally partnered with the ones we knew were going to meet our high-quality standards.

And here we are now. SideCar is finally open to the public and Kickstarter backers are just weeks from receiving their rewards. Pre-order now and join the mobile dual-display computing revolution. Remember, it's better together.
